My name is Philip Andrew Duff.  I love Jesus Christ with all my heart, strength, and mind and I would give anything to share that with you.

“The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.  It is good for people to bear the yoke while they are young.  Let them sit alone in silence, for the LORD has laid it on them.  Let them bury their faces in the dust–there may yet be hope.”  (Lamentations 3:25-29)

Thank you for posting these updates and sharing your faith so beautifully. I am a friend of Karma’s and was so saddened to hear of the accident involving her nephews. You all have been in my prayers ever since. I appreciate Karma sending this link so we can receive these updates. I will continue in prayer and know that our great God will bring peace and comfort during this most difficult time.

I suspect I am not the only one to experience this Phil but the stillness in you right now Brother has brought a greater measure of stillness in me as well. In this stillness my family and I are in prayer for you daily. Chandler in particular never fails to remember you in his nightly prayers.

I want to share with you a thought from my studies that I fully expect you to read before to long. I was reading in Luke the past few days (LK 8:16). Luke writes that no one lights a candle and places it under a jar. I have always read this hearing Jesus’ gentle but firm caution not to conceal our faith. Faith in Him has an effective conveyance, a radiance, a purpose and that it is our responsibility to communicate this truth. Our voice, our deeds, and our lives should be like the radiance from that candle.

I read this again this morning and asked in my study, ‘who is the ‘no one’ who lights the candle?” The focus Jesus places is on the candle lighter, not so much the candle itself. I saw I have missed the point. The point He is making is what He is doing, not what I am doing. He is the lighter, the ignighter of faith in us. It is His work in salvation to light and reveal Himself through us.

I thought about this again this morning as I re-read this passage. About the work of the one who lights the candle. Phil, I know you to be one who has the radiance Jesus speaks of in this passage. Even in this trial, the Light of Christ is radiant through you Brother. We all can see it Brother. Even in your sleep this day, you are radiant in Him, Who lights.

  9. Praying continuously for Phil and his family. I truly believe a miracle is in the making!

Also for your friends who love you so much, as I know this from Rachel and Brandon. Maybe someday there will be another square dance at the farm and we will see you dancing!
